During the second month of my mission with the other Neoma's volunteer, Constantin Sengebusch we decided to create a crowdfunding platform to raise funds for the acquisition of a cassava grinding machine.
This project has been created step by step by our team, we needed to organized everything perfectly to be totally transparent with our futur donors. First we decided about the amount we wanted to reach ; this amount includes the acquisition of the machine, the money transfer, the platform taxes, the counterparts offers to some donors... All those expenses have been evaluated by our team so it was a long process set up for week then we looked for a crowdfunding platform easy to manage and secured (Gofundme). Futhermore, we needed to make a communication campaign to reach the funds expected by using social media, Neoma's network, companies known as donors and even contact journalists. Finally those efforts have paid off.
We managed to collect the amount initially set of 1037 € and have distributed all counterparts to every participants (25 donors). Thanks to them, today the women of the collective of Zogbépimé will receive a new machine. It will allow them to work in better conditions and reduce their production cost and increase the security.
Thank you again to all the participants of this project who believed in us. It was a big challenge for us who didn't know nothing about Togo at the beginning. We are very proud of the well accomplishment of our mission, it was an unique experience, unforgettable and magic. As the volunteers of ESDEV saids it is only a grain of sand in the desert but as we had seen : together we can do it.
